Welcome to Skippys Gems!

My name is Louise Graham and I am the sole owner of Skippys Gems. Skippys Gems was established in 2002 first as an online presence and soon grew to be a thriving little store.

Until recently, I was located at 1143 Rubyvale Road in Sapphire for ten years.  Sapphire, better known as ‘The Gemfields’, is in Central Queensland.  I have resided at The Gemfields for more than 40 years. Some would say I am almost a ‘local’!!

In June 2019 I relocated to Pat’s Gems, also located in Sapphire, and worked alongside Pat, selling my wares in the Gem Shop.  Since Covid-19 has made its presence, I have temporarily closed my shop front to sell online and frequent the local markets and Gem Shows in the region.  Please check the list, located at the bottom of this page, of where to find me.  Click and collect is also an option if you are in the area!

I learnt how to facet gemstones at a primary school age and have continued faceting, setting a lot of my masterpieces in gold and silver jewellery.  We have an extensive range of local Sapphires and Zircons, in all sizes and colours.  If you are looking for rough and cut local gems, please browse our store or email for specific orders.  We also supply an extensive range of semi-precious gemstones. 

Over the years I developed a great interest in the Lapidary field and expanded my inventory to include lapidary equipment and supplies. I also diversified from the gemstone and jewellery industry into supplying wire wrapping, chain maille, skin polishing and silver smithing supplies.
